During her working visit to Malaysia, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Huong, Lawyer – Vice-Chair of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Commercial Arbitration Center (VLCAC) – Head of the External Relations and International Cooperation Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Arbitration Association (HCCAA) – Director of THR Law, visited the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) and attended a meeting with Mr. Mohamed Firdaus, Manager of the Communications and Marketing Department of AIAC.
During the meeting, the parties engaged in constructive discussions regarding potential cooperation between the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), the Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Arbitration Association (HCCAA), and the Vietnam Lawyers’ Commercial Arbitration Center (VLCAC).
The discussions focused on strengthening institutional connections, exchanging professional expertise, coordinating seminars, forums and training programmes on commercial arbitration, international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, as well as creating further opportunities for cooperation among arbitrators, lawyers, experts and professional organisations in Vietnam and Malaysia.
The meeting provided an important opportunity for the parties to gain a better understanding of each institution’s organisational structure, professional activities and development orientation, thereby laying the foundation for practical, sustainable and effective cooperation programmes in the future.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Huong, Lawyer – Vice-Chair of the Vietnam Lawyers’ Commercial Arbitration Center (VLCAC) – Head of the External Relations and International Cooperation Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Arbitration Association (HCCAA) – Director of THR Law, expressed her hope that AIAC, HCCAA and VLCAC would continue their discussions, identify appropriate areas of cooperation and move towards establishing a formal partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Strengthened cooperation among AIAC, HCCAA and VLCAC is expected to contribute to the development of commercial arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, enhance the professional capacity of arbitrators, lawyers and experts, and expand international cooperation in the fields of law and dispute resolution between Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries in the region.
